The original layout was narrow and closed off, limiting natural light and flow. Our clients wanted a space that felt connected, contemporary, and functional for entertaining. By removing the dividing walls, we completely reimagined the kitchen as part of the open living and dining area, giving it a fresh energy and so much more room to breathe.
Design Details That Elevate the Everyday
To visually connect the space with the rest of the home, we continued the espresso-stained oak flooring throughout the kitchen. For cabinetry, we mixed textures and tones to keep the look modern yet warm. The concrete-look cabinet fronts bring an edge of industrial style, while the dark-stained pantry cabinets add contrast and sophistication—creating a striking visual moment without overwhelming the room.
We also reconfigured the layout to include a large center island with clean lines and a waterfall edge—perfect for prepping, dining, or gathering with friends. The new layout not only enhances workflow and storage, but also allows the kitchen to feel like a natural extension of the living space.
