Sonoma Barn Remodel

Granny Units are no longer just for Granny. Many clients are looking at ways to use their property to provide additional income. Many are converting garages or sheds to Granny units, also known as an Accessory Dwelling Unit or ADU. Our clients in Sonoma purchased property that had an old 5,000 SF Milking Barn on it. It is no longer in use but still had some good bones. We were hired to help them convert one side of the 3 tiered barn to become a one bedroom apartment "Granny Unit" that they could rent out.

Before Photo: Front of Barn. Granny Unit (ADU) was added to the right side. New sliding doors were added as well as double barn doors.
Interior was in need of major work! Sewer, Water and Electric needed to be added. A new slab floor was installed as well.
Our floorplan included an open concept kitchen/dining/living room space with new double sliding doors looking out onto the large oak tree out front. A new bathroom was added as well as laundry room and bedroom towards the back.
During Construction- Double Sliders were installed and a custom double barn door to provide shade and privacy when needed.
New Interior windows were added and replaced existing windows. New slab floor was poured and interior walls are starting to go up.
Kitchen is starting to come together.
Finished Kitchen- Client opted for exposed plumbing and electrical. Poured in place concrete counter-tops were added as well as a stainless farmhouse sink. Hardi plank lap siding was used as a rustic but durable backsplash around the sink area. Original board and batten were kept on the walls separating this bay from the center bay.
